Board of Aldermen (City Council)

The City of Salem is a fourth class city with a Mayor/Council (Board of Aldermen) form of government. Officials are elected in the April Municipal Election. Local ordinances are determined by the Board of Aldermen. Most Committees are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Board of Aldermen.
